ABOUT THE SHOW
Detroit ‘67 is a powerful, character-driven drama set during the 1967 Detroit uprising, a moment when a city—and a nation—stood on the edge of change. At the center of the story are siblings Chelle and Lank, who are struggling to build a future from the home they’ve inherited. By day, they fight to stay afloat. By night, they transform their basement into an underground club filled with music, energy, and escape.
While Chelle is determined to protect what they have, Lank dreams of something bigger, creating tension between them as they navigate ambition, responsibility, and survival. Their fragile balance is disrupted when a mysterious woman named Caroline enters their lives, forcing them to confront truths about themselves, each other, and the world around them.
As unrest grows outside their door, the emotional stakes inside the home rise just as quickly. Blending Motown-era music with intimate storytelling, Detroit ‘67 explores family, resilience, and the pursuit of something more in a world that doesn’t always make space for it.
